The Trans-Mississippi Philatelic Society dates back to 1934 when a group of stamp collectors from Omaha, Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa, seeing a need for a greater fellowship among those enjoying a mutual hobby, laid the plans for an exhibition to be held in Omaha. As Omaha had been host to the Trans-Mississippi Exhibition in 1898, it was only natural that "Trans-Mississippi Philatelic Society" was selected as the name of the new organization. The purpose of the society is to provide a convention , and exhibition annually in the mid-western area. Other benefits exist which can be seen on our website.
